قال في الفتوحات الاسلامية: وكان عمر رضي الله عنه يحب علي بن أبي طالب وأهل بيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وقد جاء ‏عنه في ذلك شيئ كثير فمن ذلك: أنه لما قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه. قال أبوبكر وعمر رضي الله ‏عنهما: أمسيت يابن أبي طالب مولى كل مؤمن ومؤمنة.‏
