أبومنصور عبدالملك بن محمد بن اسماعيل الثعالبي النيسابوري المتوفى 429 صاحب يتيمة الدهر، ترجمه إبن خلكان في تاريخه ج 1‏‎ ‎ص ‏‏315 وأثنى عليه وعلى تآليفه القيمة، وذكره إبن كثير في تاريخه ج 12 ص 44 وقال: كان إماما في اللغة و الاخبار وأيام الناس بارعا ‏مفيدا.‏
