محمد بن جعفر غندر، الحافظ أبو عبد الله البصري صاحب شعبة، وقد روى عن حسين المعلم وطائفة، وقال: لزمت شعبة عشرين ‏سنة. قال ابن معين: كان من أصح الناس كتابا، وقال آخر: مكث غندر خمسين سنة يصوم يوما ويفطر يوما.‏

Ibn Ma`يn said: He was the most correct of the people in his book, some tried to find fault with it but failed.
