Sa`id was reliable, trustworthy, a jurist (faqih) from the third [tabaqah]. He was killed in front of al-Hajjaj [b. Yusuf al-Thaqafi] in 95 AH when he was not even fifty years of age.

Quoted from al-Lalaka'i that Sa`id b. Jubayr was reliable, an imam, and an authority. Ibn Mihran has said that when Sa`id died there was no one in the world who was not in need of his knowledge.
