"Tawba" literally means "to return". This is because when a person commit a sin or a wrongdoing, he is in fact getting far from Allah. Through repentance the servant finds a way to get back to Him. There are two main conditions for repentance: sincere remorse and resolution not to commit the wrongdoing anymore. All other actions of repentance - like ghusl, prayers, supplications, etc. - should stem from the above-mentioned state. Furthermore, if we have wronged someone we should apologize to him and give back his rights if being taken.

With prayers for your success.
