Bismillah,
Asalamu Alaykom,

Yes Imam Sadiq and the imams after him (peace be upon them) would of been from dark complexion as indicated by narrations.

We even have authentic ahadith which point towards the 12th imam’s mother being dark

From Yazeed al-Kunaasee said, I heard Abaa Ja`far Muhammad bin `Alee al-Baaqir (عليهالسلام), he said: “Verily, the master of this affair (i.e. al-Qaa’im) in him is resemblance of Yoosuf (عليهالسلام), he is the son of a black bondswoman (female slave), and Allaah (عَزَّوَجَلَّ) will reform his affair in one night”

Imam Jawad (as) according to narrations would also be insulted for his darkness and given racist abuse. These realities found in our narrations are very different to what people try to depict the imams as in drawings.

Bismaillah,

Asslamu Alaykom,

Qasd Al-Qurbah means that the act must be done with the intention of seeking closeness to Allah swt. For example, salah, hajj, sawm, wudu and ghusl etc. All these acts are not valid without the specific intention of doing them for the sake of Allah.

There are some other actions where you wouldn’t need this intention. For example, making something tahir (purified). It wouldn’t be necessary if someone was removing an impure substance to utter this intention.

May Allah grant you success

Bismaillah,

Asalamu Alaykom,

God is most powerful and could easily do such an action. However, poverty exists due to man’s greediness. If everyone had paid their Islamic taxes correctly such as zakat and khoms, the situation of poverty would look much different.

We find that Imam Ali (as)  was strongly against poverty, and gave us an example on eradicating it. This was even towards non-Muslims such as the famous story below which alludes to his conduct towards a Christian beggar:

‘One day Ameer ul Momineen (Commander of the Faithful) Imam Ali (AS), passed through the lane and saw the beggar in that condition. Imam Ali (AS), out of his concern for others, enquired about the old man. He wanted to know the factors which led him to that condition. “Has he has no son to support him? Or, is there no other way for him to live a respectable life in his old age?”

The people who knew the old man came forward and informed Imam Ali (AS) that he was a Christian and had worked hard so long as he had his eyes, and when young and strong.

Now that he had lost his youth as well as his eyes, he was unable to do any work; also he had no savings, so it was natural for him to beg. Imam Ali (AS) said, “Strange! Till he had strength, you extracted work from him and now you have left him on his own?”

His story shows that he had worked when he had the strength. Therefore, it is the duty of the Government and the society to support him while he is alive. “Go, and give him a life pension from the State Treasury (Baytul Mal).”

Also regarding the rich and poor, Islam in fact encourages the rich to help the poor and act in a humble manner with them. The Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) were known for this as well as helping the slaves or servants with hard work. It is the corrupt society and governments which create poverty and enforce a system which discriminates between the rich and poor. Islam has been given to us to deal with this issue in addition to all of society’s problems.

May Allah grant you success

Bismillah,

Asalamu Alaykom,

We don’t have any caste system in Islam. People’s characters and merits are determined by their piety.

Some people are unfortunately inflicted by Hindu ideas and try to introduce this into our community by saying things such as a Sayeda or alawiyah woman, can only marry a Sayed. We also have those who refuse to let their daughters marry people from the opposite race: sometimes a person is of the same race yet it still  isn’t enough as they are not from their city or village!

None of this is from Islam.

“O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is the one who has At-Taqwa(piety)” (49:13)

Asalamu Alaykom,

If this woman you are getting to know says that she will accept Islam, then you can marry her. If she chooses to stay atheist, then all types of marriage (temporary and permanent) are not allowed with her.

So before marrying her, she must accept Islam and sincerely utter the testimony of faith.

Bismaillah,

Asalamu Alaykom,

It isn’t obligatory to have kids but it is highly recommend and encouraged in Islam. Usually the father has a strong influence on his children. so he should make sure that they are raised according to the teachings of the prophet Mohammed and his purified progeny (peace be upon them all).

The husband MUST ensure that his children will be raised to not praise the enemies of Ahlul bayt (as) which many Muslims unknowingly do. He should raise children who will disassociate from the oppressors of the imams (as).

It is good for him to also try and guide his wife in a way isn’t forcing her. If you both decide not to have children for the time being then that is entirely your choice.

May Allah grant you success

You may say this if you are both mahram to each other. Being Halal to each other is established by reading the nikah or a mutah formula with the correct conditions. After this, sharing affectionate words is permitted.

Bismillah,

Asalamu Alaykom,

This is permitted provided that no haram would be done. So for example, a Muslim may not go to a haram environment like a pub or club. Let us say the Muslim even goes to a normal restaurant but then his non-Muslims colleagues consume alcohol; he would not be permitted to sit on the same table as them in which alcohol is being drunk at.

If however they go to a restaurant and there is no drinking alcohol on the same table, and the food is halal, then there is no issue and it is permitted inshallah.

May Allah grant you success
