Du'a (Supplication)

In Islam, duʿāʾ (Arabic: دُعَاء‎, plural: ʾadʿiyah أدْعِيَة), literally meaning "invocation", is an act of supplication. The term is derived from an Arabic word meaning to 'call out' or to 'summon', and Muslims regard this as a profound act of worship.

www.duas.org has many for this. 'La hawla wa la quwwata 'illa billah' x 100 every day is good. There is also a powerful du'a from this website, as follows:

يَا قَاهِرُ يَا قَهَّارُ يَا ذَا الْبَطْشِ الشَّدِيْدِ اَنْتَ الَّذِىْ لاَ يُطَاقُ انْتِقَامَهُ

yaa qaahiru yaa qahhaaru yaa dhal bat’shish shadeedi antal ladhi laa yut’aaqu intiqaamah.

“O forceful, O powerful. O One with a severe might You are the One whose retaliation none could bear.”

After this, you blow in the direction of your enemy.

Yes. Du'a can change many things in our life and make it much better. Du'a can make you marry a better person and can make your life happier. Many destined things can be changed by Du'a and good deeds or can be worsened by bad deeds.

To answer your question, yes it is possible for a dua to change a given situation. With that said, i would caution against overuse of Istikharas. They should only be performed after one has utilized their intellect to the full extent, and they have consulted with others, and done everything within their reach to reach a solid conclusion. If they still haven't been able to reach a conclusion, only then should an Istikhara be utilized.

In some cultures in the Middle East, Istikharas are over utilized while God has given us an intellect for a reason....

Istekhara can not be repeated on the same matter unless the circumstances change. Du'a can help in changing the circumstances then another Istekhara can be seen.

Yes, of course.

It is narrated that the Prophet (S) said, "Nothing wards off fate except supplication."

It is narrated that Imam al-Kazim (A) said, "I urge you to supplicate, for verily supplication to Allah and seeking from Allah repels calamity which may have been destined and decreed with just the execution remaining, so if Allah is supplicated and is asked to avert a calamity, it is averted."

The Qur'an also strongly encourages us to call to God and seek what we want or need from Him.

Also, certain acts, such as giving charity, can change aspects of our fate that have been decreed.

Of course, sometimes Allah does not grant our requests, out of His wisdom or as part of a greater plan.

There are some things in our fate that are fixed and unchangeable, and some things that are changeable; we don't know which are which, so we can do du'a regarding all of them, and leave the response to Allah.

Ameerul Momineen was writing the knowledge from the Prophet in a book called Al-Jami’ah الجامعة.

All our Infallible Imams used to write and order their followers to write.

Bismihi ta'ala

A revered scholar had once recommended that Ayatul Kursi be written with safron on 4 pieces of paper, and placed in the earth of four corners of the foundation of the house.

Aim at having the house a hub for dhikr of Allah ta'ala, and to dedicate programs in remembrance of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.). A blessed house in the eyes of Allah ta'ala is a house devoted to serve others, and brings kin together.

Once the house is done, it is recommended to invite people and feed them. Giving Sadaqah is also highly recommended.
