In Islam, Taqiya or Taqiyya (تقیة‎ taqiyyah, literally "prudence, fear") is a precautionary dissimulation or denial of religious belief and practice in the face of persecution. Another term for this concept, kitmān (lit. "action of covering, dissimulation"), has a more specific meaning of dissimulation by silence or omission.This practice is emphasized in Shia Islam whereby adherents are permitted to conceal their religion when under threat of persecution or compulsion.

This is untrue.

Infallible never prays behind a sinner. Such narrations are fabricated even if you find them in a book compiled by a Shia author. This narration is mentioned in Nawaadir Al-Raawandi, page 30 but it has no value nor any authenticity.

It is narrated that Asiya was one of Bani Isra'il. She believed in Allah and prayed secretly and hid her faith from the Pharaoh.

It is related that the Pharaoh killed the wife of the prophet Hizqil. The Pharaoh told her what had happened whereupon Asiya criticized him for what he did. Then the Pharaoh understood that she believed in Allah and had her killed.

What do the Imams mean by the prohibition against divulging their secrets that is mentioned in certain narrations? What is exactly meant by concealing faith?

My understanding of this is that it is with respect to spiritual matters, particularly the spiritual position of Ahl al-Bayt (A) in that if some people who did not have an understanding of this heard some people talking about it openly, they might react negatively due to ignorance.

Taqiyya (Dissimulation)

Are there different types of Taqiyya? When is it permissible, and when not, to use Taqiyya?

Taqiyya aims to save the life, dignity and wealth of the believers. Taqiyya has been mentioned in Quran (Sura 3, Verse 28).

Taqiyya can be obligatory when it is the only way to save life of the believer or believers.

Taqiyya is recommended when it improve or strengthen the relations between Muslims.

Taqiyyah is allowed to save the wealth.

Taqiyya is forbidden (Haraam) if it causes a sinful act.

Al-Shaikh Al-Mufeed has mentioned these four types of Taqiyya in his book Awaa'il al-Maqalaat, page 135 and 135.

Is it correct to say that Imam Hussain (AS) did not practice Taqiyyah against Yazid's forces unlike what his father Imam 'Ali (AS) and Imam Hasan (AS) did with the caliphs of their times?

Taqiyyah has conditions and it aims to save the believers, but when mam Husain (AS) faced a complete different situation when the whole religion was in danger and here was no way at all to save Islam but to give his life to save Islam. There was no question of Taqiyyah in such dangerous situation. Neither Imam Ali (AS) nor any other Imam faced such situation, and if any Infallible faces such situation, they will definitely do exactly what Imam Husain (AS) did in sacrificing their lives to save Islam.

While performing Salaah with Sunni family members can I fold my arms in Qiyam, as per Taqiyyah?

If Taqqyah is really required in your circumstances, then yes. It
means that if you don’t fold your arms during prayer with your Sunni
family members, it can cause you real risk and harm.

So Taqayyah will be applicable to avoid such expected harm. It is good
to inform your Sunni family members that folding arms is not in the
Salaah of the many Sunnis who are followers of the Maaliki sect. So
many millions of Maaliki Sunnis do not fold their arms during Salaah.
This is the practice of the Maaliki Sunnis. But if you want to search
the evidence of folding hands during Salaah ,you will never find an
authentic Hadith that te Holy Prophet (SAWA) folded hands during
Salaah. Folding hands during Salaah was ordered by Umar ibn Khattab
during his government time. None of the leading Sunni scholars could
claim that folding hands during Salaah is obligatory.

Leading Sunni scholar Sheikh Sayyed Sabiq in his book Fiqh al Sunnah
stated that there is not a single authentic Hadith suggesting that the
Holy Prophet (SAWA) folded his hands during even one Salaah
