Salah (Prayers)

Salah ("worship", ‏صلاة‎; pl. ‏صلوات‎ ṣalawāt; also salat), or namāz (Persian: نَماز‎) in some languages, is one of the Five Pillars in the faith of Islam and an obligatory religious duty for every Muslim (Male & Female, with certain exemptions based on Taqwa). It is a physical, mental, and spiritual act of worship that is observed five times every day at prescribed times.

No, your prayer is not invalid, as it is not something that would nullify a prayer.

Yes, prayer is valid in a house which has alcoholic drinks as far as the place of Prostration is Tahir. We should avoid any act which gives others an impression that we approve their drinking alcohol. We are allowed to visit our relatives who keep alcohol at their house with out approving their sinful acts.

Doubt in the number of the units (Rak'ats) has different types, some of the doubts are irreparable and Salah is invalid if doubt remains like doubt during morning and Maghrib Prayers and doubts in the first two Rak'ats in any Prayer.

There are repairable doubts  which are during any of the four units Prayers (Dhuhr, Asr and Isha) if it happens after completing the second Rak'ah.

Your doubt between third or forth Rak'ah is repairable. You should consider your Rak'ah as the forth and complete your Prayer then stand up for just one Rak'ah of Salatul Ehtiyat which is just reciting Sura Al-Hamd then Ruku' then two Sajda then Salam.

You wrote that you performed another unit. That made the number of units reach to five which is incorrect.

You should repeat that Prayer to be sure that you fulfilled a proper Prayer of four units only.

'Wassalam.

Shia Muslims insist on following the Prophet of Islam (SAWA) in each and every matter as Allah (SWT) Has Ordered us to obey and follow the Messenger of Allah.(Sura 4 , Verse 59 and Sura 5 , Verse 92 , and Sura 24 , Verse 54, and  Sura 24 , Verse 56, and Sura 47, Verse 33 and Sura 64, Verse12.

Sunni main books of Hadeeth confirm that the Prophet (SAWA) di combine Dhuhr and Assr and combines Mafgrib and Isha in Madina with out rain orany unusual situation to teach Muslms. (Saheeh al-Bukhari and Musnad ahmad Ibn Hanbal and Mowatta' Malik and Saheeh Muslim and many other Sunni books).

Shia Muslims follow the Prophet (SAWA) in combining the Prayers and separating them as well as he did, while some Muslim sects ignore the prophetic teachings and insist on praying separately only as if the Prophet (SAWA) did not combine the Prayers at all, or they are not concerned to follow him.

If she is able to understand and rectify her mistakes in the acts of worship, then you should politely tell her and help her to perform acts of Wudhu and Namaz properly. But if she is unable to understand or unable to perform properly, then she is not responsible for more than what she can.

Shia Muslims follow the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) in each and every matter and he himself had joined and combined the Prayers when he was in Madinah with out any unusual situation, and said when he was asked why: To keep my Ummah away from difficulty كي لا أشق على أمتي.

We pray Dhuhr and Assr one after the other combining, following the Prophet (SAWA)  who used to combine some times, and we believe that combining is not compulsory so we also pray Dhuhr the wait and pra Assr later on.

Unfortunately, some Muslim sects have ignored the Sunnah of the Prophet, despite calling themselves as followers of the Sunnah.

The chain of narration is: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو تَوْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ حُمَيْدٍ - عَنْ ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ،

The first narrator, Tawus, is considered to be Tawus ibn Kaysan, who was born in 30 AH. Since the Prophet (S) passed away in 11 AH, obviously he did not see this directly and was reporting from someone else whose name is not mentioned.

So, from that angle, one could introduce a question mark into the narration.

Short version of obligatory Prayer is called Qasr . It is for traveler who is intending to be in a specific place of travel a period less than ten days. He has to pray the Prayers of four Rak'ats (Dhuhr, Assr and Isha) in the short form of two Rak'ats only. If a Prayer was missed during such travel, then it must be prayed in this form as well.

No one is allowed to pray Qasr if he is not a traveler or during war circumstances.

While praying a missed prayer, you can perform the obligatory acts and recitations only with out the Mustahab (Recommended) acts and recitations.
