Employment

Employment is a relationship between two parties, usually based on a contract where work is paid for, where one party, which may be a corporation, for profit, not-for-profit organization, co-operative or other entity is the employer and the other is the employee. Employees work in return for payment, which may be in the form of an hourly wage, by piecework or an annual salary, depending on the type of work an employee does or which sector they are working in. Employees in some fields or sectors may receive gratuities, bonus payment or stock options.

Studying to become a lawyer is allowed as far as you support the victims and the justice. Those lawyers who aim only to gain money and support the wrongdoers through legal tricks are doing wrong and their income from the wrong is unlawful.

It depends on you how you want to be. Obviously, the person who believes in Allah and Day of Judgment will never support the wrong, because he will face the miserable consequences.

This applies to other professions like medicine, education, business, etc which can be used in right way by good people, and wrong way by wrong people.

We encourage good persons to study law to support the innocent people.

Wassalam.

According to Sayyid Sistani(may Allah lengthen his life) if one doesn't have a fixed job and a regular salary, he must take into account whatever he acquires for a year and if it doesn't get spent in his year's expenses, he should give one-fifth of it as Khums. So it's going to be a distinct "Khumsi Year" for each belonging, possession or finance you may get.

Khums is not obligatory on you if you have no savings at all after receiving your annual income and spending in your lawful usual expenses. If you have any savings no matter how much, then Khums is obligatory on that savings once per year. After paying the Khums from any amount, the remaining amount is called Mukhammas (Khums paid) and this Mukhammas amount is exempted from Khums in the coming years as far as it remains with you.

Wassalam.

As jurists say, it is prohibited to buy or sell pig meat, but as for working in a place that serves pork, it is permissible. The problem would arise if you yourself were to prepare or serve the pork, in which case most jurists say it is of obligatory precaution to avoid.

You would need to refer to you Marja' Taqleed for the specific fatwa on this issue.

And Allah knows best.

If you did not do the Qadha' of the previous holy month of Ramadhan, and entered into the next Ramadhan, and you were capable of re-doing those days, you will need to pay a Kaffarah.

The Kaffarah is 750grams of flour, or bread, or rice, or dates, or something similar to these items for each day. You select the amount (750grams) of only one of these items, of your choice.

You will also still need to do the Qadha' of those passed days.

And Allah knows best.

It is one of your rights, but good communication (and a good marriage) is not build upon the demand of one's rights. One should always introduce one’s feelings, needs and desires in a proper way. This means that we explain our position with patience, tolerance and compassion. Moving to a new country is stressful for all, and there might be a reason for his lack of motivation to find a job. My best advice is therefore to tell him how you feel about living at your sister’s, and how it will improve your situation if he had a job. If he is going through a stressful period (etc.) due to the new environment, you might want to help him find a job, and show compassion about his situation. Marriage is not about demanding one’s rights, and demanding the other part to fulfil their responsibilities. Marriage is a partnership, a sacred bond of help, support, love and compassion. Sometimes we must show patience and support, other times it is us who need the support and compassion.
