Jinn

Jinn (Arabic: الجن‎, al-jinn), also Romanized as djinn or Anglicized as genies (with the more broad meaning of spirits or demons, depending on source), are supernatural creatures in Islamic mythology and theology as well as early pre-Islamic Arabian mythology. Besides the jinn, Islam acknowledges the existence of demons (Shayāṭīn). The lines between demons and jinn are blurred, since malevolent jinn are also called shayāṭīn.

Anything is possible if Allah wills, especially if one is appealing to Allah and the Book of Allah. However there is no guarantee.

Allah The Glorious did create for humans and Jinns two different worlds. Human world is for us and Jinn world for the Jinns. No Jinn can be a human and no human can be a Jinn.

In Quran, we read about those humans who wanted help from the Jinns but got more hardships from the Jinns. (وأنه كان رجال من الإنس يعوذون برجال من الجن فزادوهم رهقا )(Sura Al-Jinn: 6).

Jinns have no control over human beings in usual cases, but there are some wrong acts which make the human being so weak that some Jinn can harm him.

Many disliked acts are mentioned in Hadeeths can cause such weakness. Sleeping in wrong time e.g. between Asr and Maghrib, or urinating inside water, eating Najis food etc.

Jinn can not posses a human being in usual cases. Allah (SWT) did not leave us unprotected from the harm of bad Jinns.

Many people think that or others are under the posses by Jinns, but it is not the reality all the times. It can be a mental or psychological case which they think it from the Jinns. So, we can not believe any one who thinks in this way blaming Jinns.

Even those who due to bad acts became very weak in front of Jinns, can easily go out of their control by reciting Quran and Du'a. Reciting Ayatul Kursi and Sura Falaq and Sura Naas has great benefits in protection, prevention and cure. Also reciting Verse 35 in Sura Ar- Rahman in clear or loud voice is very useful in removing the bad effect of Jinns and driving them away.

Repeating the names of Allah (SWT) and Salawaat and Istighfaar are always best protection from any harm.

Wassalam.

It is rare.

The human being is built in such a manner that this sort of thing is possible.

However, most often, when people think that someone is possessed, it is usually the case that either (a) the person is acting according to their free will and other people around them refuse to accept that, or (b) there is undiagnosed mental illness (and often an unwillingness to look into the possibility of mental illness due to fear of stigma). Of course, all these things can work together, but don't blame jinn for things that are not their fault!

It is mentioned in Sunni books like Bukhari Vol 11 : (Donkey sees Shaitan) but I did not find it in our authentic books.

Nevertheless, what difference does it make for us in our worldly and religious life whether it is true or not?

The world of Jinns is completely different world frm ours and we ae not allowed to seek any help from them as we read in Quran (And some men from humans were seeking refuge of the Jinn and the Jinns added on their hardships)(Al-Jinn ; 6).

About angles, we read in Quran ( Say: If there were on the earth, Angles walking in peace, We should certainly have sent on them from the sky an angel as a messenger ) Sura Al-Israa, 95.

This is a good question. As a wise scholar once said, it is likely that, in the Qur'an, Allah focuses on angels and jinn as the main sentient creatures other than humans since they are the ones we are most likely to have some sort of interaction with. However, this does not preclude the possibility (or, indeed, likelihood) of the creation of other beings.

It is narrated from Imam al-Baqir (A): ‘Perhaps you think that Allah has only created this single world, and you think that Allah has not created anyone other than yourselves! Nay by Allah, Allah has created a million worlds and a million Adams and you are in the latest of these worlds and of the latest Adams.' - Tawhid al-Saduq

There is a hadith from one of the Imams saying that Allah has a planet with a different length of day from Earth on which the inhabitants do not know that Allah is disobeyed anywhere. (I do not have the reference offhand, but perhaps someone can add it.)

Best wishes!
