Abu Bakr Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Tawan quoted Ibn Sammak Ahmad b. al-Husayn b. Ahmad who quoted Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Nasir al-Khuldi who quoted `Ali b. Sa`id b. Qutaybah al-Ramli who quoted Damrah b. Rabi`ah al-Qarshi relating from Abu Hurayrah, through Matar al-Warraq and Shahr b. Hawshab, who said: The one who fasts the 18th day of the month of Dhu'l Hijjah, will get the reward of fasting sixty months. It is the Day of Ghadir Khumm when the Prophet [s] took the hand of `Ali ibn Abi Talib and said: “Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves?" They said: "Yes, O' Messenger of God." He said: " Then, for whoever I am his master (mawla), 'Ali is his master(mawla)." 'Umar said thereafter: "Well done Ibn Abi Talib! Today you became the master (mawla) of all believing men and women." Allah then revealed: " Today I have perfected your religion." (Qur'an 5:3)
