وروى في المناقب ص 94 بالاسناد عن الحافظ أحمد بن الحسين البيهقي، عن الحافظ أبي عبدالله الحاكم، عن أبي يعلي الزبير بن عبدالله الثوري، عن ابي جعفر احمد بن عبدالله البزاز، عن علي بن سعيد الرملي، عن ضمرة عن إبن شوذب عن مطر الوارق عن شهر بن حوشب عن أبي هريرة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم انه قال: من صام يوم ثمان عشر من ذي الحجة كتب له صيام ستين شهرا. وهو يوم غدير خم لما أخذ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بيد علي بن أبي طالب فقال: من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه اللهم وال من والاه وعاد من عاداه وانصر من نصره والخذل من خذله. فقال له عمر بن الخطاب: بخ بخ يابن أبي طالب أصبحت مولاي ومولى كل مسلم.
