Jalál [al-Dín] al-Suyú>í quoted in al-Durr al-Manthúr on the authority of Ibn Abí \átim, Ibn Mardawayh and Ibn `Asákir narrating from Abú Sa`íd al-Khudrí who said:
This verse was revealed on the Messenger of Alláh, peace and blessings be upon him, on the day of Ghadír Khumm in reference to `Alí b. Abí ^álib, may Alláh illuminate his countenance.
