ورواه أبوالمظفر منصور بن محمد بن عبد الجبار السمعاني ، المتوفى 489. فقد روى السيد هاشم بن سليمان الحسيني البحراني رحمه الله ‏عن كتاب (فضائل الصحابة) له ما نصه: عن البراء بن عازب قال: أقبلنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في حجة الوداع، حتى إذا ‏كنا بغدير خم نودي فينا: الصلاة جامعة ، وكسح لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم تحت شجرتين، فأخذ رسول الله صلى الله عليه ‏وسلم بيد علي فقال: ألست أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم؟ ثم قال رسول الله: فإن هذا مولى من أنا مولاه، أللهم وال من والاه وعاد من ‏عاداه. قال: فلقيه عمر بن الخطاب بعد ذلك فقال: هنيئا لك يا ابن أبي طالب أصبحت وأمسيت مولى كل مؤمن ومؤمنة.‏
