[Yahya b. Sa`id] al-Qattan said about him: I have not seen anyone like him, he was the one of the most trustworthy of all people. Shu`bah said: He was nicknamed 'Mushaf' due to his mastery [over knowledge]. Ahmad [b. Hanbal] , Abu Zur`ah [al-Razi] and al-`Ijli have considered him reliable.
