ألسيد أحمد بن زيني بن أحمد دحلان المكي الشافعي المولود بمكة 1232 والمتوفى بالمدينة المنورة 1304 مفتي الشافعية بمكة المشرفة وشيخ ‏الاسلام بها عالم متفنن ، فقيه مشارك في العلوم ، مؤرخ متضلع ، له تآليف كثيرة طبع منها ما يربو على عشرين ، أفرد أبوبكر عثمان بن ‏محمد البكري الدمياطي في ترجمته كتابا أسماه : نفحة الرحمان في مناقب السيد أحمد زيني دحلان ( ط مصر ).‏
