Ahl al-Bayt

Ahl al-Bayt (أهل البيت‎, Persian: اهلِ بیت‎), also Āl al-Bayt or Ahlul Bayt, is a phrase meaning, literally, "People of the House" or "Family of the House". Within the Islamic tradition, the term refers to the family of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. In Shia Islam the Ahl al-Bayt are central to Islam and interpreters of the Quran and Sunnah. Shias believe they are successors of Muhammad and consist of Muhammad, Fatimah, Ali, Hasan, and Husayn (known collectively as the Ahl al-Kisa, "people of the mantle") and the rest of the Imams from The Fourteen Infallibles.

The Hadeeth from the Prophet (SAWA) states: The believing man is computable to the believing woman المؤمن كفؤ المؤمنة.

The Prophet himself (SAWA) and Ahlul Bayt (AS) did marry from different cultures as the criteria is never the culture but the faith and religious piousness.

The number of the twelve Imams is mentioned in Quran when mentioning the divine leaders after Prophet Musa (Sura Al-Maa'idah , verse 12).

Allah (SWT) Mentioned that Prophet Muhammad is sent to people as Prophet Musa was sent. (Sura Al-Muzzammil , verse 15.

'From these two Quranic verses we know that the divine successors of the Proohet Muhammad are twelve just like the divine successors after Musa.

'Mentioning the names of the twelve Imams explicitly is not our job to ask as Allah did not mention explicitly the numbers of units of our most compulsory daily prayers and left if to the Prophet (SAWA) to explain. Allah Knows what to mention and not.

'As the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) mentioned the number and the names of the twelve Imams, every Muslim must believe and follow the Prophet (SAWA).

Weeping and crying for the tragedies of Ahlul Bayt (AS) is a natural result of real love for the Prophet (SAWA) and his Holy Progeny. When your heart has the love for Allah (SWT) and the Prophet and Ahlul Bayt, you will cry for their sufferings. Sometimes, sinful acts keep a shield on the heart preventing the person from reacting and feeling the proper feeling of sadness. Repeating Istighfaar is very useful. There is a Hadeeth stating that more sinful acts lead to rigid ness in the heart, which leads to inability to cry.

Every sinner gets one sin for sinning as we read in Quran: (Whoever brings a good deed shall get ten times like it, and whoever brings a bad deed shall have only like it)

(Sura 6, verse 160)

The wives of the Prophet (SAWA) were been warned that if one of them does bad, she will get double the punishment. (Sura 33, verse 30). That is because of the great responsibility on every wife of the Prophet (SAWA) to obey Allah and the Prophet and be a good example for others.

Descendants from Ahlul Bayt (AS) are not included in this rule. This is according to the verdicts of most of our Maraaje' of Taqleed.

It depends on the situation of your family. If your family members are flexible and open minded and appreciate evidence and believe in freedom of faith, then you can inform them that the authentic evidence guided to to follow Ahlul Bayt (AS). You can also give them some important points which guided you to Ahlul Bayt (As) which can help them not only to appreciate your research for the Truth for your life here and hereafter, but also open their minds to think properly about the Reality of Real Islam of the Prophet and his Holy Progeny.

'If your family members are rigid and closed minded and do not respect evidence nor freedom of faith and want to remain blindly following their fore fathers, then it might be harmful to inform them because it might create enmity and hatred against you.

'Keeping your faith secret is the option of thousands of believers who live in a negative surroundings which can harm them if they disclose. This is called Taqiyya which is mentioned in Quran in many verses. Allah Did Praise in Quran (Sura Ghaafir; verse 28) a believer from Firaon family who was hiding his faith.

Ahlebait (Ahlul Bayt) (AS) is a term for special Prigeny of the Prphet (SAWA) who are been purified by Allah in Sura 33, verse 33.

The Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) has clearly identified the members of Ahlebait (AS) in authentic Hadeeths and said clearly that they are Ali, Fatima, Hasan and Husain. He did not allow any of his wives to to with Ahlebait despite of demand some of them like Um Salamah and Ayesha.
