Al-Abbas ibn Ali (العباس بن علي‎, romanized: al-‘Abbās ibn ‘Alī), also known as Qamar Banī Hāshim (Arabic: قمر بني هاشم) (the moon of Banu Hashim) (born 4th Sha‘bān 26 AH – 10 Muharram 61 AH; approximately May 15, 647 – October 10, 680), was a son of Imam Ali, the first Imam of Shia Muslims and the fourth Caliph of Sunni Muslims, and Fatima bint Hizam, commonly known as Mother of the Sons (Arabic: أم البنين‎).
Abbas, also known as Abbas Alamdar, is highly revered by Shia Muslims and Sunni Muslims for his loyalty to his half-brother Husain, his respect for the Household of Muhammad, and his role in the Battle of Karbala. Abbas is buried in the Shrine of Abbas in Karbala, Karbala Governorate, Iraq, where he was martyred during the Battle of Karbala on the day of Ashura.

Aal Allah آل الله are in fact same as Aal Al-Rasool آل الرسول because Aal Al-Rasool are the pious Progeny of the Messenger whose obedience is obligatory on every Muslim being part and parcel of the obedience of the Prophet (SAWA) which is in fact the obedience of Allah (SWT).

Aal Allah are in fact Aal Al-Rasool as they are the Most obedient servants of Allah.

As the respected Syed has showned, several sources do witness to the height of Abil Fadhl al-Abbs (pbuh). I would like to add a small note here: Sometimes, we tend to use hyperbolic expressions in our day-to-day language. This is common in many languages. For example, in English you could say "tall as a giraffe", or "as hungry as a wolf", or "I could eat a horse".

Being consumers and contributors to the common parlance of the day, we realize that these are hyperbolic expressions; idioms used to express that something is out of the ordinary. Indeed, with time, even hyperbolic expressions tend to become more common, and so we find that expressions like "awesome" and "fantastic" are used in everyday language, whereas their usage previous was limited to extra-ordinary phenomena.

Given above, I do believe that it would not be far-fetched to understand the statements about the height of Abil Fadhl al-Abbas (pbuh) as hyperbole. That is to say, he (pbuh) was very tall; taller than other people of his time. A way for historians to accentuate this, using the parlance of their day, was to describe his height very tall even when sitting on a horse.

Yes. Our master Abul Al-Abbas (AS) was tall that his feet touched the ground while he was on the horseback.

This has been mentioned even in Sunni books like Maqaatil Al-Talibiyyeen by Abul Faraj Al-Asfahani (page 56) and Maqtal Abi Makhnaf (page 176).

It has been mentioned in many Shia books like Ma'alim Al-'Awaalim by Al-Bahrain (page 283) and Biharul Anwaar (Volume 45, Page 39) and Lawa'ij Al-Ashjaan by Sayyed Mohsin Al-Ameen (page 179) and many other books.

Why did Imam Hussain (AS) not allow Hazrat Abbas (A) to fight in Karbala? Given that after all attempts, it finally had to be a war and that chance to fight was given to all martyrs, why was Abbas (A) not allowed to fight?

Hazrat Abbas (AS) was the chief commander of the army of imam Husain (AS) and he had to remain till the end of the battle.

According to Ibn Tawoos in al-Iqbal, the wife of Hazrat Abbas, Lady Lubabah Bint Obaidullah Ibn Abbas, was in Karbala and she witnessed the tragedies and was taken as captive with other ladies and children of Ahlul Bayt (AS) to Kufa then Shaam. She was crying day and night in the tragedies of Karbala and passed away in Madina shortly after returning back. Her children were then looked after by their grandmother Lady Ummul Banin.

Is it true that Imam Husain (AS) did not allow his brother Abbas, his son Ali Akbar, and his companions such as Hurr to jointly face the army of Yazid? If so, for what reason?

We believe that every act of the Infallible is based on the complete wisdom which may not be available to us as our thinking is limited.

The wisdom behind the way of fighting the enemies in Karbala can be to avoid immediate collapse of the camp of Imam Husain (AS) looking at huge numbers of the enemies facing small number of believers.

It can be also to give more chances to the army of the enemies to reconsider their stand.

After all, the whole wisdom of that arrangements is with Imam Husain (AS) which aims definitely to serve the noble aims of Islam.

Why would Imam Musa Kazim have the same title of Babul Hawaij as Hazrat Abbas and Hazrat Ali Asghar, but not any of the other Imams?

Thank you for your question. The title bāb al-ḥawāʾij is conferred on these personalities by their admirers and their experience of finding their requests being answered in a speedy fashion. In reality all of the Infallibles (as) are worthy of this title.
