The job of Ameerul Momineen, Imam Ali (alayhis salaat was salaam): he used to dig wells; this was his job. And a lot of times when we hear about Imam Ali digging wells, we say what kind of job is this? Realize: in a desert society, with a man who digs wells, is a very important man. The man who knows where to find the water; the man who knows how to dig for the water; the man who knows how to set up that well, he is a very instrumental person in the society.
And you hear about Imam Ali digging wells. Yes, he got paid for this. But you also hear about him digging wells for free for people. People might be wondering like, why would Ali dig a well? This is his job to dig wells; a very important job in a desert society. Why does he dig a well for free for someone? It's not just because he is Imam Ali, it's because he has more feelings; he is beneficial.
By him digging that well, he frees that farmer; he empowers that farmer; he causes that farmer's rizq to increase; his family situation to stabilize and settle down.
Ameerul Momineen, in every aspect of Islam, he is 'central'. A lot of times when people play a central role like this, it's very easy for us to take them for granted.

Si dire che l'Imam 'Ali (a) scavava pozzi. Sì, veniva pagato per questo. Ma si sente anche direi che scavava pozzi gratis. Ci si potrebbe chiedere: perché 'Ali (a) dovrebbe scavare un pozzo? Questo è il suo lavoro: scavare pozzi. Un lavoro molto importante in una società che si è sviluppata nel deserto. Perché mai dovrebbe scavare un pozzo gratis per qualcuno?
Non lo fa soltanto perché è l'Imam 'Ali, ma perché è 'mufid', è utile. Scavando quel pozzo, rende libero un contadino, dà forza a quel contadino, fa sì che il 'rizq' [sostentamento] di quel contadino aumenti, che la sua situazione familiare sia più serena e stabile.
Amir al-Mu'minin ha un ruolo centrale in ogni aspetto dell'Islam. E spesso quando le persone hanno un ruolo così importante si tende a darlo per scontato.

Der Mann, der weiß, wo das Wasser zu finden ist; der Mann, der weiß, wie man nach dem Wasser gräbt; der Mann, der weiß, wie man den Brunnen einrichtet, er ist eine sehr wichtige Person in der Gesellschaft.
Und Sie hören von Imam Ali, der Brunnen gräbt. Ja, er wurde dafür bezahlt. Aber man hört auch davon, dass er für die Leute kostenlos Brunnen gegraben hat. Die Leute fragen sich vielleicht, warum sollte Ali einen Brunnen graben? Es ist seine Aufgabe, Brunnen zu graben; eine sehr wichtige Aufgabe in einer Wüstengesellschaft. Warum gräbt er einen Brunnen für jemanden umsonst? Es ist nicht nur, weil er Imam Ali ist, sondern weil er mufid ist; er ist nützlich.
Indem er den Brunnen gräbt, befreit er den Bauern; er bestärkt den Bauern; er bewirkt, dass sein Lebensunterhalt (Rizq) zunimmt; dass sich seine Familiensituation stabilisiert und beruhigt.
Der Führer der Gläubigen, ist in jedem Aspekt des Islams "zentral". Viele Male, wenn Menschen eine so zentrale Rolle spielen, ist es für uns sehr leicht, sie für selbstverständlich zu halten.
