Salawat

Salawat is a special Arabic phrase, which contains the salutation upon the prophet of Islam. This kind of phrase is usually expressed by Muslims in their five daily prayers (during the Tashahhud) and also when the name of Muhammad had been mentioned.

During prayer I said "wa aali Muhammad" instead of "wa 'alaa aali Muhammad" in the Salawat. Does this invalidate my prayer if this was done accidently because I forgot?

Saying (ALLAHUMMA SALLI Ala Muhammad Wa Aali Muhammad) is perfect.

What is the most beneficial Zikr to practice throughout the day, aside from Quran and Salah? I have heard of phrases like Astaghfirullah, Ayat e Kareema, and Salawat. If one had to be prioritized above the others, which would it be?

The best Zikr is the Salwaat (ALLAHUMMA SALLI ALA MUHAMMAD WA AALI MUHAMMAD). That is why it is obligatory in every Prayer and no Prayer (Salah) can be valid with out the Salawaat. Hadeeths on the greatness of Salawaat are too many.

Is it necessary to repeat Istikhara if I unintentionally skipped reciting the Dua before it and only recited Salawat three times?

It is not necessary to repeat the Istekhara for not reciting the Du'a before it.

Is it permissible to recite Durood when Prophet Muhammad's (saws) name is mentioned during the Friday Khutbah, considering the instruction by some Sunni scholars not to say it out loud or even whisper it, but only recite it silently in our hearts?

Reciting Durood (Salawaat) is always highly recommended whenever the Prophet (SAWA) is mentioned. It is not enough to remember it in your heart, but we need to recite it. If the situation does not allow to say it loudly,then whisper it.

What are the traditions, with their proper references, about the reward of Salwaat and Durood on the Prophet Muhammad Al Mustafa (s) and Aale Muhammad (a)?

There are hundreds of authentic narrations on the great reward of reciting Salawaat on the Prophet and his holy Progeny. You can find many of them in main the books of Hadeeth, like A-Kari,Al-tahtheeb,Al-faqeeh and Al-istebsar. There are full books on this subject. There are authentic narrations that any believer who recites Salawaat, the angels will pray for him as far as he is reciting Salawaat. And they don't stop praying for him unless he stops reciting Salawaat.

Is it sufficient to recite one Salawaat for mentioning the name of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) multiple times in a gathering, or should we recite Salawaat every time we hear his name?

It is highly recommended to recite and repeat Salawaat whenever the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) is mentioned.

Is there any verse in the Quran that orders Muslims to recite Durood on the progeny of Prophet Muhammad SAW?

Allah (SWT) ordered us in many verses in Quran to obey the Prophet (SAWA).e.g. 3:32, :132, 4:59, 4:64, 4:80 and many other verses.

'The Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) clearly told the z Muslims to salute his progeny with him. He ordered Muslims to avoid the cut off salutation which does not salute his progeny with him. لا تُصَلّوا عليّ الصلاة البتراء.

Why do we recite Salawat in Namaz? When was it first introduced and was it recited by Prophet Muhammad (s) as well?

Salawaat is part of compulsory parts of Namaz as it was tought to the Prophet (SAWA) by Allah (SWT). The Prophet (SAWA) recited Salawaat in every Namaz and ordered Muslims to recite Namaz as he recited.

Salawaat is the greatest Du'a and it includes the main faith in Allah and His Messenger (SAWA) and Ahlul Bayt (AS).

Deliberately leaving Salawaat invalidates the Namaz.
