Al-Nawawí

Ya<yá ibn Sharaf, Abú Zakariyyá, born in the village of Nawa on the Horan Plain of southern Syria in 631/1233. He was the Imám of the later Sháfi`ites and wrote many books: Minháj al-^álibín, Kitáb al-Adhkár, Riyá_ al-@áli<ín and other books. He lived very simply. After twenty-seven years in Damascus, he returned home and died at the age of 44 in 676/1277.
