Does showering with the intention of cleanliness suffice for Wudu? If not, and one mistakenly believed so for years, must they compensate for missed prayers?

Any prayer reciting without performing wudhu', or a ghusl that would suffice for wudhu' must be repeated.
It is wajib upon every Muslim, from the age of taklif, to learn at least the basics of prayer, and other simple acts of worship and daily rituals.
