You do not need to perform istikhara prior to vacation. In fact, it is probably better not to do so, unless you have some uncertainty.

According to our jurists, there are about twenty five prohibited acts during Ihram, and one of them is tadhleel, or being under a shade for a male during the day while travelling. This means a male cannot be directly under any shelter during the day time when travelling from the Miqat to Meccah al-Mukarramah, but then inside Meccah, he can.

In looking into the wisdom behind this, I have not come accross a reliable reference that explains this, but it seems that one possibility could be that it is a sign of humility. Instead of the person travelling with extravagence and comfort, he commences his spiritual journey of humbling himself by being under the sky.

And Allah knows best.

Muslims are allowed to join Dhuhr and Assr means to pray Assr after completing the Dhuhr prayer. Also to pray Isha after completing Maghrib prayer. This is according to the authentic Prophetic Hadeeths that the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) used to join his Prayers in Madina to avoid putting burden on his Ummah.

‘Muslims are allowed to join whenever and where ever they want.

‘Joining the Prayers does not mean to stand immediately for Assr after finishing the Dhuhr prayer. We recite Quranic verses and supplications after every Prayer, then we go for the next prayer.

Istikhara should not be done again unless the situation of the matter has changed. If there is no change in the matter, there is no points in trying to do an istikhara again.

Istikhara can not be repeated if it comes against what we mant. The only situation in which another Istikhara can be repeated is when the total situation changes and it becomes another matter.
