Ghadir Khumm

The event of Ghadir Khumm (Arabic: حديث الغدير; Persian: رویداد غدیر خم) occurred in March 632. While returning from the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Islamic prophet Muhammad gathered all the Muslims who were with him and gave a long sermon. In the sermon, Muhammad announced that Ali ibn Abi Talib would be his successor.

I have become very interested in Shia Islam after reading online about Ghadir Khum. If I become a Shia, will I be able to offer prayers behind a Sunni Imam? Can I continue to respect all the Sahaba and hate none of them? What changes will I have to make? I understand that it is narrated in Al-Kafi that the Quranic verse 5:3 was revealed on the day of Arafah. This contradicts the view of it being revealed after the Ghadeer sermon.
