روى الحافظ أبونعيم في حلية الاولياء ج 5 ص 364 عن أبي بكر محمد التستري عن يعقوب، وعن عمر بن محمد السري (المتوفى ‏378) ‏عن إبن أبي داود قالا: حدثنا عمر بن شبة عن عيسى عن يزيد بن عمر بن مورق قال: كنت بالشام وعمر بن عبدالعزيز يعطي ‏الناس ‏فتقدمت إليه فقال لي: ممن أنت؟ قلت من قريش. قال: من أي قريش؟ قلت: من بني هاشم. قال: فسكت فقال: من أي بني ‏هاشم؟ ‏قلت: مولى علي. قال: من على؟ فسكت قال: فوضع يده على صدره فقال: وأنا والله مولى علي بن أبي طالب كرم الله وجه، ‏ثم قال: ‏حدثني عدة إنهم سمعوا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه. ثم قال: يا مزاحم [مزاحم بن أبى مزاحم ‏المكى مولى عمر بن عبدالعزيز، وثقه ابن حبان] كم تعطي أمثاله؟ قال ‏مائة أو مائتي درهم. قال: إعطه خمسين دينارا. وقال إبن أبي ‏داود: ستين دينارا لولايته علي بن أبي طالب ثم قال: ألحق ببلدك فسيأتيك ‏مثل ما يأتي نظراءك [في نسخة الحلية أغلاط لا تخفى على ‏من راجع فقد صححناها من لفظ الحموينى].‏
