The First Person to Argue with God

The first person to start using this type of approach. That when Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala makes a command clear on him, that then he starts reasoning and arguing with Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, which by the way, we do all the time, was nobody but Shaytan himself.
When Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala told Shaytan to prostrate to Adam, what was the response of Shaytan? What was the first thing that Shaytan said? He said, no, I'm not going to do that, "Ana khayrun minhu" (7:12). I'm better than him. Why should I prostrate? Why should I go to Sajda for someone that You have created from dirt? If anything, he is supposed to be the one prostrating to me.
This is the reasoning and the arguing with Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. After His command has already become clear for us. When His command becomes clear for us brothers and sisters, there is no more room for us to sit there and say, well, this is what I think. That is what think.
De eerste persoon die dit soort benadering begon te gebruiken. Dat wanneer Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala hem een gebod duidelijk maakt, dat hij dan gaat redeneren en argumenteren met Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, wat we overigens de hele tijd doen, was niemand anders dan Shaytan zelf.
Toen Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala tegen Shaytan zei dat hij zich voor Adam moest neerwerpen, wat was toen de reactie van Shaytan? Wat was het eerste wat Shaytan zei? Hij zei, nee, dat ga ik niet doen, "Ana khayrun minhu" (7:12). Ik ben beter dan hij. Waarom zou ik knielen? Waarom zou ik naar Sajda gaan voor iemand die U uit vuil hebt geschapen? Hij zou juist degene moeten zijn die voor mij knielt.
Dit is de redenering en het argumenteren met Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. Nadat Zijn gebod al duidelijk voor ons is geworden. Wanneer Zijn gebod duidelijk is geworden voor ons broeders en zusters, is er geen ruimte meer voor ons om daar te zitten en te zeggen, nou, dit is wat ik denk. Dat is wat ik denk.
