How You Can Secure Your Faith
There is an ayat in the Qur'an in Surat ul-Baqara, verse 132. Surat ul-Baqara, verse 132. Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala speaks to us about Ya'qoob. Prophet Jacob, Ya'qoob, the father of Yusuf, when he was on his deathbed, what does he say to his children? He says "Wa wassa biha Ibrahimu banih, wa Ya'qoob, ya baniyya, inna Allaha astafa lakum ud-deen" (2:132). This is what Ibrahim said to his children, and this is what Ya'qoob, said to his children.
"Inna Allaha astafa lakum ud-deen" (2:132). Allah chose you to be the standard bearers, to be the ones who carry His religion. "Fa la tamutunna illa wa antum Muslimun" (2:132). Ibrahim and Ya'qoob, they say what? Do not die unless you are Muslim. Meaning hold on to your 'Aqida when you are experiencing death. It is not easy.
In Surat Al-Mu'minoon 23, verses 97 and 98, there is a du'a that is mentioned, that we should all become familiar with. "Wa qul Rabbi a'udhu bika min hamazati ash-Shayatin" (23:97), O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the whispering of the Satans. "Wa a'udhu bika Rabbi yahdhuroon" (23:98), and I seek refuge with You, O Allah, from their presence.
What is this ayat talking about? It's talking about the waswasa and the presence of Shayatin when you are dying, because Shaytan is not going to leave you. Shaytan wants to shake you up before you die, so you die without faith.
This is why people used to come to Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq, alayhi as-salam, they used to say to the Imam. A man by the name of Muhammad Ibn Salman Ad-Delimi, one of the companions of Imam as-Sadiq, he says: inna Shi'atakum yaquluna inna al-Imana qisman, ahaduhuma mustaqarr, wa thabit, wa al-akhir musta'wda wa yasur. He tells the Imam that your Shi'as, your followers, say that there are two types of faith. There is two types of Imam. There is faith that is firm, it's deep-rooted, and there is faith that is shaky and depart. What does this mean?
The Imam says it means there are some people, when they are dying, they panic, and they start having doubts, and they relinquish their belief. It departs them, when they encounter death. And there are those who remain firm. So then he asks the Imam: fa a'allimni du'aan idha qara'tuhu kamula Imani wa staqarrar. O Imam, teach me something that if I do it, it will secure my faith.
Because brothers and sisters, if your 'Aqida, if your beliefs are shaky when you are alive, what is going to happen to you when you are on your deathbed? Some of us, our 'aaqida is weak when we are alive. You need to know what you believe and why you believe it. So he says to the Imam teach me a du'a that will secure my faith and it will prevent it from departing me in my last moments.
The Imam says: "qul ba'a qulli farida" [say] after every prayer, after your daily prayers, after you finish, sit on your mushallah, don't just grab your phone right away. Read the following du'a:
"Radhitu bil-Lahi Rabban, wa bi Muhammadin Nabiyan", I am pleased with God as my Lord, and with Muhammad as my Prophet. "Wa bi 'l-Islami Dinan", and I am pleased with Islam as my faith. "Wa bi 'l-Qur'ani Kitaban" and the Qur'an is my book. And the Ka'abah is my Qibla. "Wa bi Aliyin Waliyan wa Imaman" and he mentions the Imams. "Allahumma inni Radhitu bihim A'immatan".
If you do this, if you dictate to your soul, your creed, you will secure it on the day that you pass away. It won't depart.

Er is geloof dat stevig is, het is diepgeworteld, en er is geloof dat wankel is en vertrekt. Wat betekent dit?
De Imam zegt dat het betekent dat sommige mensen, wanneer ze sterven, in paniek raken en gaan twijfelen en hun geloof opgeven. Het verlaat hen, wanneer zij de dood tegenkomen. En er zijn mensen die standvastig blijven. Dus dan vraagt hij de Imam: fa a'allimni du'aan idha qara'tuhu kamula Imani wa staqarrar. O Imam, leer mij iets dat als ik het doe, het mijn geloof veilig zal stellen.
Want broeders en zusters, als je 'Aqida, als je overtuigingen wankel zijn als je leeft, wat zal er dan met je gebeuren als je op je sterfbed ligt? Sommigen van ons, onze 'aaqida is zwak wanneer we leven. Je moet weten wat je gelooft en waarom je het gelooft. Dus hij zegt tegen de Imam leer mij een du'a die mijn geloof zal veiligstellen en het zal voorkomen dat het mij verlaat in mijn laatste momenten.
De Imam zegt: "qul ba'a qulli farida" [zeg] na elk gebed, na je dagelijkse gebeden, nadat je klaar bent, ga op je mushallah zitten, pak niet meteen je telefoon. Lees de volgende du'a:
"Radhitu bil-Lahi Rabban, wa bi Muhammadin Nabiyan", ik ben blij met God als mijn Heer, en met Mohammed als mijn Profeet. "Wa bi 'l-Islami Dinan", en ik ben blij met de Islam als mijn geloof. "Wa bi 'l-Qur'ani Kitaban" en de Koran is mijn boek. En de Ka'abah is mijn Qibla. "Wa bi Aliyin Waliyan wa Imaman" en hij noemt de Imams. "Allahumma inni Radhitu bihim A'immatan".
Als je dit doet, als je je ziel, je geloof dicteert, zul je het veilig stellen op de dag dat je sterft. Het zal niet weggaan.
