Imam Ali’s Justice
Just listen to the words of Ali ibn Abu Talib (a.s). He says, "Wa Allah! By God! La in abeeta 'ala hasak as-sa'dani musahhada, aw ujarra bi al-aghlali musaffadah, fa inna dhalika ahabbu ilaya min al-‘alqa Allaha Ta’ala, wa Rasulahu, dhaliman li ba'dh al-‘ibad, aw ghasiban li sha'in min al-hutam". By God for me to spend the night sleeping on the desert thorns extremely painful to step on. The Imam says, for me to sleep on this, all night long, obviously you wouldn't get a moment of sleep if you do.
The Imam says if I spent the night lying down on these thorny weeds or, he says, if they took me, they tied my legs to a rope and they tied the other end of the rope to a fast horse, and that horse began to run through the desert over the rocks. Could you imagine something more painful, torture, that is even worse than this? He said, if they did that to me, Wa Allah, that is better for me than to meet Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala, or His Messenger on the Day of Judgment, having oppressed one single individual or having usurped 'ba'dh al-hutam.'
How beautiful the words of Amir al-Mu'minin! 'Hutam' is the ruins after an earthquake, or the rubble after a fire that burns down the building. He describes the dunya as the rubble you find leftover after the building collapses. Since that is the dunya, I would rather be tortured, I would rather be dragged on the rocks and the thorny weeds of the desert than to take some of this unlawfully, than to steal someone's property, than to take away something that I'm not entitled to, I'm not proving to.
This brothers and sisters is what made Ali, Ali. This is what turned Amir al-Mu'minin into the most righteous person to have ever held the reins of authority in all of human history. And I stand to be challenged on this.
Show me one example where the leader complains of the oppression of his subjects and not the other way around. The Imam himself says this. He says that people are normally afraid of the oppression of their leaders, and yet I am subjected to the oppression of my own subjects. Allahu Akbar!
Man höre sich nur die Worte von Ali ibn Abu Talib (a.s) an. Er sagt: "Wa Allah! Bei Gott! La in abeeta 'ala hasak as-sa'dani musahhada, aw ujarra bi al-aghlali musaffadah, fa inna dhalika ahabbu ilaya min al-'alqa Allaha Ta'ala, wa Rasulahu, dhaliman li ba'dh al-'ibad, aw ghasiban li sha'in min al-hutam". Der Imam sagt, wenn ich die Nacht auf diesem dornigen Unkraut liegend verbrächte, oder, so sagt er, wenn sie mich nähmen, meine Beine an ein Seil bänden und das andere Ende des Seils an ein schnelles Pferd bänden, und dieses Pferd begann, durch die Wüste über die Felsen zu laufen. Könnten Sie sich etwas Schmerzhafteres vorstellen, eine Folter, die noch schlimmer ist als diese? Er sagte: "Wenn sie mir das angetan haben, Wa Allah, das ist besser für mich, als Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala oder Seinem Gesandten am Tag des Jüngsten Gerichts zu begegnen, weil ich einen einzigen Menschen unterdrückt oder die 'ba'dh al-hutam' usurpiert habe.
Wie schön sind die Worte von Amir al-Mu'minin! Hutam" sind die Ruinen nach einem Erdbeben oder die Trümmer nach einem Brand, der das Gebäude niederbrennt. Er beschreibt die Dunya als die Trümmer, die übrig bleiben, nachdem das Gebäude eingestürzt ist. Da dies die Dunya ist, würde ich lieber gefoltert werden, ich würde lieber über die Felsen und das dornige Unkraut der Wüste geschleift werden, als mir etwas davon unrechtmäßig anzueignen, als jemandem sein Eigentum zu stehlen, als mir etwas wegzunehmen, was mir nicht zusteht, wozu ich nicht berechtigt bin.
Das, Brüder und Schwestern, ist es, was Ali zu Ali machte. Das ist es, was Amir al-Mu'minin zur rechtschaffensten Person machte, die jemals die Zügel der Autorität in der gesamten Menschheitsgeschichte in der Hand hatte. Und ich bin bereit, in dieser Sache herausgefordert zu werden.
Zeigen Sie mir ein Beispiel, in dem sich der Anführer über die Unterdrückung seiner Untertanen beklagt und nicht andersherum. Der Imam selbst sagt dies. L'Imam (la pace di Dio sia su di lui) dice: "Che io dorma su sui rovi del deserto!" Ovviamente noi non riusciremmo a dormire un attimo in tutta la notte, se lo facessimo .
L'Imam (la pace di Dio sia su di lui) dice: "Se passassi la notte sdraiato su queste erbacce spinose o se mi prendessero, legassero le mie gambe a una corda e legassero l'altra estremità della corda a un cavallo veloce e quel cavallo cominciasse a correre attraverso il deserto sulle rocce...." Riuscite a immaginare qualcosa di più doloroso? Una tortura peggiore di questa? L'Imam (la pace di Dio sia su di lui) dice: "Se mi facessero questo, wa Allah, sarebbe comunque meglio per me che incontrare Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala o il Suo messaggero nel Giorno del Giudizio avendo oppresso anche un solo individuo o avendo usurpato 'ba'dh al-hutam'".
Come sono belle le parole di Amir al-Mu'minin [il Comandante dei credenti, l'Imam 'Ali]! 'Hutam' sono le rovine dopo un terremoto o le macerie dopo un incendio che brucia l'edificio. Egli descrive la 'dunya' [questo mondo transeunte] come le macerie che si trovano dopo il crollo di un edificio. "Poiché la 'dunya' non è altro che questo" dice "preferirei essere torturato, preferirei essere trascinato sulle rocce e sulle erbacce spinose del deserto piuttosto che prenderne un po' illegalmente, piuttosto che rubare la proprietà di qualcuno, piuttosto che portare via qualcosa cui non ho diritto, che non mi spetta".
Questo, fratelli e sorelle, è ciò che ha reso 'Ali 'Ali. Questo è ciò che ha fatto di Amir al-Mu'minin la persona più giusta che abbia mai tenuto le redini dell'autorità in tutta la storia umana. E su questo accetto qualsiasi sfida.
Mostratemi un altro esempio in cui il capo di Governo si lamenta dell'oppressione dei governati e non vive versa. L'Imam (la pace di Dio sia su di lui) dice: "Normalmente è la gente ad avere paura dell'oppressione dei loro Governanti, ma io sono soggetto all'oppressione da parte di quelli che governo". Allahu Akbar [Dio è più grande di qualsiasi altra cosa]!
