Misconception About Fasting On The Day Of Ashura
It's not a normal day. Don't do errands, don't engage in house chores, don't buy anything for tomorrow or the day after. In other words, don't do your shopping on this day and obviously make sure you don't go to work. You don't perceive this day as a normal day, let alone a day of celebration and festivity, which is what the vast, overwhelming majority of Muslims are going to be doing tomorrow. And then you wonder why Imam Al-Husayn was there all alone on the plains of Karbala while tens of thousands of Muslims massacred him and his family, while telling him 'That we kill you, knowing who you are, who your father was, who your mother was, who your grandfather is.'
You wonder why? Because you have preachers out there, preachers of hate, preachers of extremism, people who tell you that tomorrow is such a blessed day that you're supposed to fast out of gratitude and showing thanks to Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. That's the basis of fasting in Islam.
In fact, if you look at other traditions, you'll find that fasting is recommended on every day of festivity with the exception of the two Eids where it is haraam. Otherwise, fasting is recommended as a means of expressing gratitude to Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. Gratitude for what?
And then you have people who exhibit such audacity and shamelessness that they give entire lectures, entire speeches about the so-called merits of the Day of Ashura, and not once even so much as mentioning the name of Imam Al-Husayn and the family of Rasul Allah who were massacred on this day.
Have you no shame? Or as Sayyida Zaynab said to Umar Ibn Sa'ad on the Day of Ashura, 'Ama feekum Muslim?' Is there no Muslim among you? Wal-Allah, you know nothing about Islam. If you are fasting the Day of Ashura and observing it as a day of festivity and celebration.
Even if you're one of those people who are at the footnote and says, yes, Imam Al-Husayn was also killed and that is something we do not approve of, we don't accept it, it's sad, but yet we will fast on the Day of Ashura. 'Ama feekum Muslim?' Have you no shame? Have you no love for Rasul Allah and his family?
Es ist kein normaler Tag. Erledige keine Besorgungen, mache keine Hausarbeit, kaufe nichts für morgen oder übermorgen. Und dann fragt man sich, warum Imam Al-Husayn ganz allein auf der Ebene von Kerbala war, während Zehntausende von Muslimen ihn und seine Familie massakrierten und ihm sagten: "Wir töten dich, weil wir wissen, wer du bist, wer dein Vater war, wer deine Mutter war, wer dein Großvater ist."
Du fragst dich warum? Weil es da draußen Prediger gibt, Prediger des Hasses, Prediger des Extremismus, Leute, die dir sagen, dass morgen ein so gesegneter Tag ist, dass du aus Dankbarkeit und als Zeichen des Dankes an Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala fasten sollst. Das ist die Grundlage des Fastens im Islam.
In der Tat wenn du dir andere Überlieferungen ansiehst, wirst du feststellen, dass das Fasten an allen Festtagen empfohlen wird, mit Ausnahme der beiden Eid-Feste, an denen es haraam ist. Ansonsten wird das Fasten als Mittel zum Ausdruck der Dankbarkeit gegenüber Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala empfohlen. Dankbarkeit für was?
Und dann gibt es Leute, die eine solche Dreistigkeit und Schamlosigkeit an den Tag legen, dass sie ganze Vorträge, ganze Reden über die so genannten Verdienste des Aschura-Tages halten und nicht ein einziges Mal auch nur den Namen von Imam Al-Husayn und der Familie von Rasul Allah erwähnen, die an diesem Tag massakriert wurden.
Habt ihr kein Schamgefühl? Oder wie Sayyida Zaynab am Tag von Ashura zu Umar Ibn Sa'ad sagte: "Ama feekum Muslim?" Gibt es keinen Muslim unter euch? WaLlah du weißt nichts über Islam. Wenn du am Tag von Aschura fastest und ihn als einen Tag der Festlichkeit und des Feierns betrachtest.
Selbst wenn du zu den Leuten gehörst, die als Fußnote sagen, ja, Imam Al-Husayn wurde auch getötet und das ist etwas, dem wir nicht zustimmen, wir akzeptieren es nicht, es ist traurig, aber trotzdem werden wir am Tag von Ashura fasten. "Ama feekum Muslim?" Habt ihr keine Scham? Habt ihr keine Liebe für Rasul Allah und seine Familie?"

¿Te preguntas por qué? Porque hay predicadores por ahí, predicadores del odio, predicadores del extremismo, gente que te dice que mañana es un día tan bendito que se supone que debes ayunar por gratitud y mostrando agradecimiento a Alá Subhana wa Ta'ala. Esa es la base del ayuno en el Islam.
De hecho, si se observan otras tradiciones, se encontrará que el ayuno se recomienda en todos los días de fiesta, con la excepción de los dos Eids, en los que es haraam. Por lo demás, el ayuno se recomienda como medio para expresar la gratitud a Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. ¿Gratitud por qué?
Y luego hay gente que exhibe tal audacia y desvergüenza que dan conferencias enteras, discursos enteros sobre los llamados méritos del Día de Ashura, y ni siquiera una vez mencionan el nombre del Imam Al-Husayn y la familia de Rasul Allah que fueron masacrados en este día.
¿No tienes vergüenza? O como dijo Sayyida Zaynab a Umar Ibn Sa'ad el día de la Ashura: "¿Ama feekum Muslim? ¿No hay ningún musulmán entre vosotros? Wal-Allah, no sabes nada del Islam. Si estás ayunando el Día de Ashura y lo observas como un día de fiesta y celebración.
Incluso si eres una de esas personas que están en el pie de página y dice, sí, el Imam Al-Husayn también fue asesinado y eso es algo que no aprobamos, no lo aceptamos, es triste, pero aun así ayunaremos el Día de Ashura.
