Quranic Verse Proving the Necessity of Wearing the Hijab 1/2

Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala says in the Holy Quran: Ya Ayyuha al-Nabi” (33:59), Allah makes, He commands His Prophet, Oh Prophet, ya Rasul Allah, Qul li azwaajika, wa banaatika, wa nisa al-mu'mineen yudneena 'alayhinna min jilaabihinna (33:59). Surah Al-Azhab, verse 59.

Allah tells the Prophet ya Rasul Allah, tell your wives, and tell your daughters, and tell the women of the believers, so all Muslims, all Muslim females, tell the mu'minat to what? Yudneena 'alayhinna min jilaabihinna, that they have to wear the jilbaab and they have to wear it in a good way, they have to wear it strictly and tightly.

So what is Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala telling us here?

So number one, Allah does not just say that the wives of Rasul Allah have to wear it. Remember we said people like Hushamanji, they say that only the wives of Rasul Allah. This verse is a clear refutation. Allah says: "Qul li azwaajika wa banaatika wa nisaa al-mu'mineen" (33:59), tell all the women, not just your wives. Tell them what? Tell them to wear the Jilbaab.

What is the Jilbaab? The Jilbaab in the Arabic language, if you open any Arabic dictionary, you will find that Jilbaab is defined as a loose outer garment that woman used to wear, it is from the head to the toe. In our terms today the Jilbaab is the Abaya, the Abaya that is placed on the head.

The Qur'an is telling the Prophet, tell your wives, tell your daughters and tell all the Muslim believing women to wear the Abaya, to wear the Jilbaab. Open any dictionary and you will find what Jilbaab means. And that's why I said in order to do Qur'an, we have to understand the Arabic language in the correct way.

Some people will come to let you know, I think Jilbaab means this. If you are not a learned scholar 'Alim, you have no right to do Tafsir Qur'an. Go back to any Arabic dictionary. Jilbaab means Abaya. It is an outer garment that is worn over the clothes. That what? That hides the body of the woman. So based on this verse. We understand that the woman have to wear the Abaaya.

Now, does this verse make it clear exactly how they have to wear the Abaaya? What can they show? Can they show their face? Do they put the Abaaya over their head? Over their face? Can they show their neck? Can they show their chest?

This verse is not clear. What makes it clear is that there is a Hijab and that Hijab is the Abaaya. They have to wear the what? The loose over garments that is called the Jilbaab.

So Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala makes it clear in this verse that all women have to wear the Jilbaab. All women have to wear the loose overgarment that we call the Abaaya.
