Yes it allowed to consume the meat of ostrich if it was slaughtered properly as Halal. Eating the eggs of it is also allowed.

Should I leave out the recommended acts during my Salah if my family rushes through Maghrib and Isha prayers during Iftar and scolds me for taking longer while I don't want to rush my prayers?

If some one is waiting for you to join them in Iftaar, it is recommended to join them, then perform Salah. Joining persons who are waiting for you is more important than recommended acts un Salah.

Is it permissible to perform the ritual of Niyaz and Nazr in India, where we prepare food, recite Salwaat, Al Hamd, Surah Tawheed, and Salwaat again? Is there any Islamic basis for this practice?

It is not only permissible but, it is highly recommended to feed people and to recite Salawaat and to recite Quranic verses. This is exactly what is happening in distributing Nazr and Niyaz.
We need to be careful from the Wahabis propaganda who jump on labeling many recommended acts as Haraam.

You didn't ignore the child out of bad intentions, in fact the mere thing that you are thinking about it, shows that you want to help the needy in future. So ask Allah swt to help you next time do what is right in the appropriate time. As it is famous when one intends to give charity, Satan interferes and tries to prevent him. No, it is not a sin to consume vegetarian food for any lawful reason. Those who claim that non vegetarian food is totally bad and don't consume it all, are doing sin because they denying Quranic verses to eat meat and the practices of the Prophet (SAWA) and his Ahlul Bayt (AS) who did eat meat.

If the person has any lawful income beside unlawful income, then you stay and eat at his place with the intention that you are utilizing his lawful income. If he has no lawful income at all, then you are not allowed to stay or eat from unlawful income.

Is there any basis in Islam for reciting Fateha and Niyaz over food and praying for the forgiveness of the deceased?

Yes. Reciting Quranic chapters abd verses are highly recommended. Sura Al-Fatiha is the greatest Sura in Quran.

Feeding is highly recommended as well.
Reciting Fatiha on Niyaz is joining two noble acts as well as making the food blessed by reciting Quranic verses on it.
