Increasing Our Bounties through Thankfulness - Ramadan 1435/2014

The Qur'an says: "la-in shakartum, la-'azidannakum" (14:7), 'If you are thankful, I shall increase in my bounties'. How so? People that Allah has given them wealth, how are they thankful with their wealth? By giving it for the sake of Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala. Allah says, if you are thankful in this manner with your wealth "in shakartum, la-'azidannakum" (14:7).

People who are given a position in society and honorable status in society, how are they thankful with that honorable status? By helping others, by resolving their differences, by helping them. For example, come together by going into a home and for example, resolving a family problem, so on and so forth. This is called Shukr to that specific Na'ma, to that specific bounty from Allah, Subhana wa Ta'ala.

How are you thankful to Allah if Allah has bestowed upon you with happiness, with joy? You live a good life, you are happy, your family is happy. When you come across someone that is suffering from loneliness or from depression, it is then your duty to be thankful to Allah, Subhana wa Ta'ala, by helping that individual, not by losing the opportunity to help them, and not exposing them when they come to you and they confide in you.
