Things That Invalidate Your Fast Tutorial

Things that invalidate Fasting during the holy month of Ramadhan. (Muftiraat)

Bismillah Al-Rahim Al-Rahim. Allahumma salli ala Muhammad wa aali Muhammad. "Ya ayyuha alladhina amanu kutiba 'alaikum us-siyamu kama kutiba 'alalladhina min qablikum la'allakum tattaqun" (2:183). Ramadan Mubarak. This is going to be a very short and brief explanation of the things that invalidates one's fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

Please make sure that you refer back to your own Marja taqlid for any details. I am going to be explaining 10 of the things that invalidates your fasting in this short tutorial.

Number one is foods. You are to refrain from eating anything from fajr, from dawn until sunset, maghrib time. Any type of foods: conventional, unconventional, cooked or uncooked, small amounts or large amounts.

Number two is drinking. Any type of drinking should not be done, while one is fasting.

Number three is sexual intercourse. During your fasting period, you are to stay away from each other.

Number four, which is very important, whether in Ramadan or outside of Ramadan is the intentionally staying in the state of janabat until fajr time. Of course, it is very bad for one to do so anyway. But while you are fasting, it will invalidate your fast if you do so intentionally, to stay until fajr time in the state of janabat, or in the state of nifas or in the states of haydh.

Number five is masturbation, which is a major sin anyway. But if one is fasting, it will also invalidate your fast. By the way, she's not wearing hijab because she's in her house.

Number six, is for one to submerge their heads under water. If you were to do so, it will invalidate your fast. I can't get him to go all the way in the water. But anyway, you get what I mean.

Number seven is the entering of thick dust into your throat. And if one was to be in an environment where they know that thick dust is around, they need to avoid that because it will invalidates your fast.

Number eight, is the usage of liquid enema. Even though this is not that common, but it will invalidate your fast should one do so.

Number nine is to intentionally vomit and this will invalidate your fast.

And the last is to attribute any false lie to Allah Subhana wa Ta'ala or to Rasul Allah, sallallahu alayhi wa aali, or to any of the Masu'meen, peace be upon them.

And one should be very, very careful what they say while they are fasting, which is what this is referring to. If one doesn't have anything positive or good to say while they are fasting, they need to try to be very careful.

Wal-Hamdulillah Rabb Al-Alameen, Wa assalat, wa assalamu ala sayyidina Muhammad wa 'aalihi at-tahereen.
