To clarify, I want to know how can one differentiate between his duas not being answered because of his past sins (so that he can focus more on tawbah and istighfaar), or whether his dua will be answered at a specific/right time (so that he should be patient and not lose hope in the answering of his dua and is constant in making dua for that purpose) or whether his dua will not be answered due to any other reason which is known only by Allah (so that he should accept his fate and trust in Allah's decision and move on from that dua and not keep waiting for it to happen).

We need to keep on seeking our needs from Allah (SWT) with full confidence that Allah Listens and Responds and Grants us the best according to His Knowledge, Generosity and Mercy. We should never lose hope in The Mecy of Allah.

We also need to continue Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness) for sins which we remember or don't remember.

We should be sure that Allah Will Grant us the best of our wishes whenever it will be suitable for us to get it.

Wassalam.
