A cigarette, also known colloquially as a fag in British English, is a narrow cylinder containing psychoactive material, usually tobacco, that is rolled into thin paper for smoking. Most cigarettes contain a "reconstituted tobacco" product known as "sheet", which consists of "recycled [tobacco] stems, stalks, scraps, collected dust, and floor sweepings", to which are added glue, chemicals and fillers; the product is then sprayed with nicotine that was extracted from the tobacco scraps, and shaped into curls. The cigarette is ignited at one end, causing it to smolder; the resulting smoke is orally inhaled via the opposite end.

The company must not sell pork nor alcohol. Cigarettes business is unlawful according to many scholars. You need to refer to your own Marje' of Taqleed in the matter of cigarettes and seek his verdict in it. Accordingly you will know whether it is permissible or not to invest in such company.

as salam alaikum

there are three major fatwas regarding smoking tobacco and cigarettes:

1) It is haram.

2) It is allowed provided that it would not cause substantial harm to your health.

3) It is haram to start but if you are already an habitual smoker it is allowed but you should try to stop, even gradually.

Overall, it is at least definitely advisable not to smoke.

What is the ruling for being in the company of a person who does not drink but sometimes smokes a cigarette with a Haram substance in it?

Being in company with sinners harms a lot as being in company with pious person helps a lot. Smoking Haraam substance is forbidden in Islam, hence, you should not be in the company of such person unless you can influence him to leave sinful acts, and make him away from sinful acts.

You should not involve yourself in any matter related to gambling, alcohol, pork etc. If your job is away from Haraam things, it is then allowed.
