Employees work in return for payment, which may be in the form of an hourly wage, by piecework or an annual salary, depending on the type of work an employee does or which sector they are working in. Employees in some fields or sectors may receive gratuities, bonus payment or stock options.

Jobs in Western and Eastern societies include good and bad elements. Muslim must avoid any wrong job which means the job which involves Haraam act whether it is Western or Eastern or any where in the world.

Pious believer should avoid mixing with other gender without necessity. Protecting self from sinful thought and acts is more important than any other in our life. It is allowed to study or work in a mixed places but with utmost care to protect yourself from any sinful thought or act.

In the country where I work, it is illegal to work on a tourist visa. However, I am currently employed at a restaurant using my tourist visa. Does this make my income Haram, as I am violating the country's laws?

It depends on the nature and the effects of your work. If your work does not harm any one and does not involve any wrong act on people, then it is allowed. If you are in doubt, then you may consult local trusted pious Ulama in the area where you are working now.

If the shop is specialised in revealing clothes which are used by women who expose their body to outsiders, then you should avoid working in such shop because we should never work in promoting sinful acts.

Is it permissible to buy the franchise of a delivery company which packs and delivers general goods that can also sometimes include musical instruments?

Buying the franchise is allowed if you will not be forced to deliver Haraam items. You must refrain from delivering any item which is not allowed.

If they put condition on you to deliver whatever they ask you to deliver including Haraam items, then you should avoid such contract.

How can I perform a true Niyat? I always lose hope and resolve after making an aim and I lack patience for hard work. How can I get out of this state?

We always need to strengthen our will power and that does not come through just wishing but through hard work and constant training.

Fasting is one of the practices which help strengthening will power, and also Night Prayer (Salat Al-Layl or Namaz e Shab) and any good work which your desire does not like but you do it for the sake of Allah.

Is it permissible to work in a job where I have to handle and package ingredients such as cheese, vegetables, pork, and non-Halal chicken meat, and fold large packets that may contain these ingredients?

Packaging or handling or carrying pork is not permissible. Same with non Halal chicken which is intended to be sold or given to Muslims.

'If the packets contain vegetables and permissible items only, then it will be permissible to work in such job.

If you know that your work will be used to harm people by any way or by any one, it will then not allowed for you to do such work. Monitoring has many types and aims which includes harming people as well as preventing crime. Preventing crime is allowed but harming people is not allowed.

I read in a book that Imam Ali (AS) shares all the work of the Prophet (S) with the exception of Prophethood. So what is the difference between Prophethood and Imamate? What is the work of an Imam that is not the work of a Prophet and vice versa?

The authentic Prophetic Hadeeth states that Allah (SWT) Has Granted Ali (AS) all the tributes and virtues which He Granted the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) except the prophethood. Ali (AS) was gifted everything the Prophet (SAWA) was gifted but Ali (AS) is not a prophet because Muhammad (SAWA) is the last and final prophet and no phrophet after him.

‘The Prophet gets the message from Allah (SWT) to convey it to people. Imam preserves the religion and the message of the Prophet and protects the religion from deviation and teach people the real Islam. Imam continues and preserves and protects the religion.

‘Imam Ali (AS) was taught by the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) every matter in Islam, that is why, no one can know the real Islam after the Prophet but only by taking the knowledge from Imam Ali (AS). The famous authentic Hadeeth from the Prophet say: I am the city of the knowledge and Ali is it’s gate.( Mustadrak Al-Haakim; Hadeeth number 4693 and 4612 and 4613 and 4614).
